Mark Hamill Poems

The Prayer

By Celene Haberkost

My eyes see him standing there
Holding out his hand
Softly calling out my name
I don't understand
When he vanishes into the night
I can't help but cry
Is it just an image in my mind or
Maybe it's a lie

But I believe that one day he'll be there
I believe that one day he'll care
I believe that one day he'll answer
My soft, quiet prayer

I wonder silently
When I wake up from the dream
It's been here every night and
Maybe it just seems
That my mind is playing tricks on me and
It should be ignored
Every night I try my best but
It comes back for more

But I believe that one day he'll be there
I believe that one day he'll care
I believe that one day he'll answer
My soft, quiet prayer

One night I try to reach for
His gentle hand
Amazingly, it works and I'm
Taken to a land
To where in his hands he holds my heart and
I finally see
When his lips touch mine so softly
I'm kissing destiny
Soon I realize he'll answer my prayer
If I believe
And we'll be together
And he'll never leave
I know it's true
For in those soft blue eyes
I can tell that
There's never a lie

But I believe that one day he'll be there
I believe that one day he'll care
I believe that one day he'll answer
My soft, quiet prayer
